30th December 2008. A statue of Dr Ambedkar is being unveiled by Prof Babu Mathew in Prakasham district. This is part of a convention for Dalit land rights. Women are fighting for land ownership which would help alleviate poverty and discrimination against women.
HASROON AT SAATHI WOMEN'S SHELTER, NEPAL
26th August 2008. Hasroon Idrisi, 23, is a victim of domestic violence who is staying at SAATHI women's shelter in Nepalganj, on the border between India and Nepal. Hasroon was burned by her husband in a dispute over dowry payment and is in recovery here with her young daughter. Her husband is in prison awaiting trial for attempted murder.

Her companion (left, orange sari) is Bhagyamma (29) from Nekunabad village, she is also a landless farmer and married with 3 children. They have come to the meeting to support the demand for dalit land rights. Women are fighting for land ownership which would help alleviate poverty and discrimination against women.

26th August 2010. Tika Khadaka, 20, is staying at the SAATHI shelter for women. She is a victim of domestic abuse and violence and is receiving counselling by SAATHI workers.
Dhanmaye at SAATHI Women's Shelter, Nepal
28th August 2008. Dhanmaye, KC, 18, is seen here at the SAATHI shelter for women. She was intercepted at the border 2 days previously enroute to India with a man from her village. She was identified as at risk from trafficking and given advice and councelling. She will now stay at SAATHI for a period for skills training.

29th August 2008. Pratikshya Oli, 22, is staying at the SAATHI shelter for women. She is a victim of domestic violence and gang rape and is receiving councelling and advice here.
SAATHI councelling cell Nepal Border
Puspa Rana (L) and Leela Singh Yadan (R) are workers at the SAATHI councelling cell on the border of India and Nepal. The women working here will offer advice and guidence to people relocating from Nepal and they intercept suspicious looking couples. Around 100 women are rescued from potential traffickers every year here.
