Photo Seeds
Photo Seeds is a photography club that sows inspiration, creativity and nature connection through the art of photography.
Our sessions are fun, playful and educational, with lots of outdoor time! Kids will learn about photography, history, art & science.
See below for a slider gallery of images taken by me at our sessions. The children’s gallery (below FAQS) features some brilliant photos taken by the kids!
Find out more About Me and Photography.
This year we’ve made camera obscuras, pinhole cameras, anthotypes and cyanotypes. We learned about the people who invented these methods and looked inspiring photographers throughout history. We’ve questioned whether photography can change the world, had fun with food photography, created stories with our cameras, hunted for seasonal treasures and the children have even shot some film on my 1940s Rolleiflex camera! Special visitors have included John Novis, the former Head of Photography at Greenpeace and renown photographer Sian Davey. In autumn we will meet photographer & artist Garry Fabian Miller who is described by the V&A as "one of the most progressive figures in fine art photography."

FAQS
What will my child be learning?
I make sure there is a good balance between learning and play. The sessions are creative, we do seasonal ‘treasure hunts’ observing nature, we also make things - camera obscura’s, pinhole cameras, photograms to name a few! There is always a theme to the session and a learning sheet. This has included historical photo-essays, science, art and many other things. We usually watch an inspiring video (up to 10 mins). Then practical sessions, some free play outdoors and a regroup at the end. Email me to view our learning sheets so far.
Does my child need a camera?
It is not essential and many of the kids in my current group do not. We make photos using emulsions and plants in some sessions so no equipment is needed. In the sessions where the kids are using their cameras I pair them up so that everyone gets a go. I also let kids use my own equipment (camera & phone). Parents old phones are also fine to use and bring in.
